Fresh Start

Well well, back again, it seems.

With the long down time of druchii.net, our first Tale of x Gamers had met an untimely demise, but we are back again. Little has been done on my Wood Elves since that time, so I don't have a huge step ahead of my fellow contributers. This summer, I had much more work on a huge scenery project, involving a High Elven port town with matching boats. More on that later, perhaps.

Anyways, I played a first battle last week. It was a thousand point match versus Skaven, and I was soundly trounced.

WE:

Spellsinger: lvl2, magic arrows that force panic tests (sorry, forgot the name), dispel scroll
Alter Noble: helm of the hunt, hail of doom arrow, great weapon, light armour
Scout Noble: Pageant of Shrikes, Hunter's Talon, Light Armour

10 Glade Guard
8 Dryads

6 Wild Riders, full command, Banner of Dwindling
9 Wardancers

Great Eagle

Skaven:

Chieftain
Plague Priest
Warlock Engineer

30 Slaves
25 Clanrats + Ratling Gun

4 Swarms
8 Jezzails
10 Gutter Runners

Warp Lightning Cannon

Some highlights of the battle:

- My Spellsinger casting Treesinging the first turn, rolling a Miscast, and two 6's for the result. Great...
- My Wild Riders being halved in number by charging Gutter Runners (goddamn magical attacks), then running down the slave block with Plague Priest in it, proceeding to be shot down by the Ratling Gun. With so many magical shooting attacks, Skaven can sure hurt us.
- Wardancers charging the Clanrats. He challenges with his Chieftain, I accept with a normal trooper, and score a killing blow on him. Afterwards I am overrun by the unit, but that was one pure moment of goodness.
- Alter Kindred Noble firing his HoDA at the clanrats, killing only two. Yay... He proceeds to be shot by the Ratling Gun.

Overall, an annoying battle, as many of our advantages are denied by the Skaven, with their autohitting Ratling Gun, their many magical shooting attacks, and their Warp Lightning Cannon which can see and shoot through all terrain.
